Dennis Beyer Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rembs Funeral Home and Crematory - Marshfield on Jan. 26, 2026.
Dennis Jerome Beyer was called home to heaven on January 24, 2026 with his wife and children by his side. Dennis was the 2nd of 7 children born to William and Evelyn (Engel) Beyer on the Engel family farm in the Clark Co town of Mayville on December 27, 1939.
Visitation will be held at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 30th and again at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31st followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors at the church.
His family moved to Milwaukee where he attended Juneau High School and met the love of his life, Sandra Bjerke. Immediately after high school in 1958, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and became a proud member of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the Screaming Eagles, at Fort Campbell, KY. On April 30, 1960, Dennis and Sandra were married at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Milwaukee. After faithful service to our country, Dennis worked as a heavy equipment operator on road construction and on a pipeline in northern Wisconsin. At one point he held 2 full-time jobs working 2nd shift at Pressed Steel Tank in West Allis and then would walk across the street to work 3rd shift at Allis Chalmers. He owned a bar and a gas station, worked on the railroad, and then found his true calling as a salesman when he went to work for Snap-On Tools for 20 years and then found his most rewarding career as a Hearing Instrument Specialist for three decades easily helping one to two thousand people hear better. He was a lifelong learner always working to improve himself and make a better life for his family. He had the innate ability to help people see things his way, always with a laugh and a smile. Dennis worked hard and played hard all his life, retiring at age of 77.
As his children began leaving home to start their own lives, Dennis and Sandy opened their home and became foster parents for Wood County. Together they loved sharing the power of unconditional love, the meaning of family, hard work, and having fun with close to 30 young people who came to share their home.
Denny, as he was known in his younger years, certainly knew how to have fun. He attended over 100 Packer games and taught over 100 kids how to water ski. At one point he owned 6 snowmobiles so that anybody that wanted to ride with him had the chance. He liked to hunt deer, travel, drive, play Sheepshead with his siblings and he showed up to cheer on family at school sports, graduations, and family gatherings. He enjoyed the company of his dogs over the years.
In November of 1999, the Beyers fulfilled a lifelong dream and purchased a Lakehouse on Soo Lake near Phillips. As planned, it quickly became the center of family activities year-round. Usually, there was a project and work to be done, sometimes there was a crowd, sometimes just the two of them, always a smile and laughter. When the work was done, Dennis could be found on his bench on the pier, watching the lake.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra; his sons Barry (Jill) Beyer Esko, MN, and Todd (Karen) Beyer Marshfield; daughters Tyra (Randy) McGowen Lone Jack, MO, Kirsten (Todd) Sivak Oconomowoc WI, Rose Beyer Marshfield, and Jessica Beyer (Mike Rice) Milladore, WI; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Bonita Brunker, Gloria Gamroth, and Linda (Bill) Barnekow; sisters-in-law Mary Beyer and Lauri Beyer all of Milwaukee; and sister-in-law Merle Rowell of Marshfield; plus 22 nieces and nephews.
