Richard "Rich" Post, Jr. passed away Friday afternoon, March 17, 2023, in Kalamazoo. He was born February 24, 1934, in Chicago IL son of Richard "Dick" and Reka (VanEerden) Post.
Rich grew up in Chicago and attended Proviso Township High School. He then went on to begin his 44-year career as a truck driver. He took a 2-year break from driving trucks to serve in the US Army. He met his dear wife, Esther, through family and friends and they were married on May 29, 1976. He has 3 daughters from a previous marriage, and they have six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. Rich and Esther were members of the Comstock Christian Reformed Church for many years, and in 2014 became members of the 2nd Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. Rich served as an elder and a deacon over the years and loved being involved in his church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and camping with his wife, Esther, and their dear friends. He had a love for singing and sang with the Singing Crusaders for over 20 years, performing in various churches and other events including the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania, Detroit Tigers Baseball game, and on a tour in The Netherlands. After 18 years of service, he retired from James River Corporation in August of 1994. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was devoted to taking care of his wife Esther. He exemplified a love for his Lord and Savior.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Peter, and Marvin Post. On May 26, 1976, Rich married the former Esther A. Cramer, who survives him. Also surviving are his children, Kimberly (Frank "Mike") Balles, Sandra Lee, and Barbara (Robert) Becker; grandchildren, Matthew Balles, Jamie (Chris) Blane, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Lee, Joshua (Sonia) Becker, Jaclynn Becker, and Jonathan (Jessica) Becker; great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Max, Zoey, Declan, Mia, Luca, Sophie, Maezie, Aria, and Adrian; brother, Robert (Matilda "Tillie") Post; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday morning, March 24, 2023, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd, Kalamazoo MI 49004. Rich's family will receive guests at the church beginning at 10:00 and after the service, during a light lunch. Private committal services with military honors will be held in Ft.
