Richard Quill Obituary

Richard J. "Dick" Quill

Feb. 5, 1932 - Feb. 26, 2024

AURELIUS - Richard J. "Dick" Quill, 92, of Aurelius, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones, on February 26, 2024. Born in Auburn on February 5, 1932, Richard was the son of the late James D. and Lillian (Whiffen) Quill. He grew up on the Quill Dairy Farm on South Street in Auburn and was the second youngest of 15 children.

He married Margaret "Peggy" Berry in 1951 and together they had seven children. He worked for and retired from NYS Department of Transportation. He enjoyed working outdoors and gardening, often growing enough vegetables to give to his family and neighbors.

Richard is survived by his two daughters: Kim Sincerbeaux of Cayuga and Margaret (Chris) Owren of Union Springs; his three sons: Kevin Quill of CA, Dennis Quill of GA and Shaun (Paula) Quill of VA; five grandchildren: Jeffrey (Joanna) Sincerbeaux, Daniel Sincerbeaux, Jerry Quill, Megan (Chris) Davison and Amy (Jeffrey) Ostrander; five great-grandchildren: Alexis, Jordan, Brandon, Delaney and Ayla; and one great-great grandson, TJ; and his dog, Bella.

A special heartfelt thank you to his caregivers Jeff and Joanna Sincerbeaux who carried him through to the end, we are forever grateful.

In addition to his parents and 14 siblings, Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife of 71 years Margaret Quill in 2023; two infant sons: Mark and Richard and his son-in-law, David Sincerbeaux.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
