Raffel, Richard Raymond, Capt. (Mustang), United States Marine Corp (Retired)
passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Sandra Jean Brown nee Bentler; son of the late Richard and Myrtle nee Henne Raffel; loving father of the late Michele (the late Michael) Raffel Rath, and Karen Marie Phillips; devoted grandfather of Dylan Lozano, Ethan (Chanel) Nicholson, and Austin (Paige) Rath; great-grandfather of 5; dear brother of the late Dolores (the late Robert) Hughes and the late Joan Lehman; brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.
A lifetime member of the Marine Corps Mustang Association, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, 1st Marine Division Association, West Coast Drill Instructors Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2593 and the Jolly Boys.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), National Service Foundation, or Purple Heart Foundation in Richard's honor.
Services: Visitation will be at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Ave. 63116, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on June 12; Funeral service will also be held at the funeral home at 12 p.m. followed by interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery; www.ziegenheinfuneralhome.com
