Richard Readel Obituary
Richard "Dick" A. Readel, born March 17, 1939, passed away at the age of 84 after a number of illnesses due to his heart.
Dick worked as a machinist at a number of Machine Shops, including Clement Lathe in Waltham, MA, EG&G in Burlington, MA, Raytheon in Sudbury, MA, Digital in Maynard, MA, and Cynosure in Westford, MA. His largest achievement, while working at Raytheon was machining the control module to the portion of the space craft that remained on the moon in the '70's'.
Dick is the son Richard Readel and Doris (Brooks) Readel and survived by his wife of 66 years; Ruth A. (Baker) Readel of Ayer, MA and two sons, (twins), John A. Readel of Nashua, NH and Donald E. Readel of Bennington, NH; daughters-in-law; Ana M. (Mendez-Ortega), Readel and Kristin L. (Kloeppel) Readel respectively; three grandchildren; Rich, Ryan, and Heather Readel and two great grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, (Chile), coaching youth hockey, retirement, reminiscing drives with Ruth and family gatherings, where he loved to tell stories. His favorite college football team was OU; Oklahoma Sooners.
Calling hours will be held in the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer on Monday, November 20, from 4-7pm. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 21, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ayer.
