Richard Dale Reeter, age 96, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Richard was born the son of Rollie and Edna Vera (Akers) Reeter on November 10, 1928, in Livingston County, Missouri. He was a 1946 graduate of Jamesport High School, Jamesport, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Helen Williams, on May 30, 1954, in Trenton, Missouri. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She survives of the home.
Richard owned and operated the Butcher Block for 10 years. He was also a meat cutter at Green Hills Grocery and HyVee Grocery stores for many years. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school to all ages all of his life. Church was very important to him. Richard was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting mushrooms, rabbits and quail. He loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; two sons, Jeff Reeter (Ginny) of Maitland, Florida and Jamie Reeter (Julia) of Chillicothe, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jalynn, Josie, Jackson, Jessica, George, Claire and Max Reeter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda Hesler and Juanita Shafer; and one brother, Delbert Reeter.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, May 31, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and again on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Liberty United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com.
