PEACHLAND - On Sunday, April 16, 2023, Mr. Richard "Ricky" Lee Mullis, 67, passed away peacefully at McWhorter House at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Ricky was born in Newport, RI on April 15, 1956 and was a son of the late Onus Denver "Bill" Mullis and the late Elizabeth "Lib" Carelock Mullis. He was a 1974 graduate of Bowman High School and had worked as pipe welder.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 49 years, Daphne Baucom Mullis; his children, Michael Mullis of Peachland and Mandy Mullis of Shallotte; his grandchildren, Madison M. Springer (Dallas), Sam Mullis, Colby Almond and Greyson Almond; his sisters, Ann Brooks (Warren) of Oak Island and Wanda Brooks (Ben Liles) of Lilesville; his sister-in-law, Melody Poteat of Peachland; his beloved Stella, a dog he rescued from the animal shelter that he dearly loved and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell Mullis and Denny Mullis and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Margie Baucom.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, c/o, Melody Hyatt, 917 Cappadocia Church Rd., Peachland, NC 28133.
