Richard Neal “Ricky” Ward, age 60, of Jakin, GA passed away Saturday evening, November 14, 2020 at his home. Homegoing services for Mr. Ward will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Joseph Tatum and Wilton Albritton officiating. Interment will follow at Jakin Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Wilton Albritton, Michael Albritton, Rondall Broxton, Greg Broxton, Joey Helms and Mike Adams serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Donalsonville Church of God. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Ricky’s name to Seminole County Warpath on Cancer, 200 W. 10th St., Donalsonville, GA or the Donalsonville Church of God Building Fund, 5060 GA Hwy 91 North, Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Ward was born in Donalsonville, GA on September 24, 1960 to Richard “Dick” Ward and Evelyn Fiveash Ward. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1978. He was a member of Donalsonville Church of God where he served as an usher and was a P.F.C. leader for many years. He was an honorary member of the Seminole County FFA and was awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree by the Georgia FFA Association. He was a member of the Jakin Fire Department for approximately 25 years and served as the Fire Chief some of that time. He worked at Georgia Tubing for 26 years before his medical retirement in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his grandsons, Austin and Eddie. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Debbie Kirkland Ward of Jakin, GA; his son, Dustin (Sheri) Ward of Jakin, GA, his daughter, Holly (Eddie) Garcia of Jakin, GA; his second Mother, Gladys Ward of Donalsonville, GA; his sisters, Patricia McMickle of Donalsonville, GA and Kay (Doug) Cruickshank of Alpharetta, GA; his brothers-in-law, David (Sara) Kirkland of Dothan, AL and Willie Kirkland of Dothan, AL; his grandsons, Austin Ward and Eddie William Garcia as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dick” and Evelyn Fiveash Ward and his parents-in-law, Vernon and Flora Cook Kirkland of Rehobeth, AL.
