Richard Robinson, Sr., affectionately known as "Ricky", was born on March 5, 1932, in
Winnsboro, South Carolina, to Melisa Henderson. His spirit returned to be with God on Wednesday, February 11,2026, while at York Post Acute,
Yorktown, Virginia, after a short illness.
Richard served in the United States Army's Signal Corps from 1951-1953. His final duty station landed him at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York. After military service, Richard attended barber school and was hired by Superior Barber Shop in Harlem, New York. Because of his deep entrepreneurial spirit, Richard left Superior to co-owned and operated "Out of Space" Barber Shop, Harlem, New York. Richard then went solo and opened his own barber shop (Uptown Barber Shop) on 144th Street and 8th Avenue, Harlem, New York. Knowing he had to prepare for the future, Richard sold his shop and started working as a train conductor and operator with the New York City Transit, where he retired after 20 years of service in 1988.
Richard decided to settle in Ammon, North Carolina and pursue his childhood dream of being a farmer. He was a devot member of Dove Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Cumberland County, North Carolina where he served as Deacon and Trustee for more than 25 years. Extremely active in the community, Richard served as a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technican for the Blanden County Fire Department. Richard was also a member of the Ruritan's Club whose mission was dedicated to fellowship, good will, and community service. His community service was so extensive that his contributions are too many to mention. Richard enjoyed farming, golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling. HIS PRESENCE WILL BE SORLEY MISSED!
