Richard Roy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford from May 20 to Jun. 1, 2023.
Richard D. Roy (May 8, 1945 - May 19, 2023) of Biddeford, ME, passed away on May 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Rene Roy and Jeannette Harvey Roy. Richard grew up in Biddeford and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1964, where he actively participated in football. He continued his education at NYA prep school in 1965 and Southern Maine Vocational Technical School in 1966.
Richard's professional journey began with Roy & Perreault Inc., where he dedicated 19 years of his career. Following his time there, he pursued his passion and became the proud owner and operator of Ricky Roy & Son Heating and Air Conditioning for one year before his disability in 1986.
Outside of work, Richard found solace and excitement in the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and boating were among his favorite pastimes. His deep appreciation for the wilderness led him to share his knowledge and teach a Hunting Safety Course, an achievement that brought him immense pride.
Richard's commitment to serving his community extended beyond his professional life. He served as a member of the National Guard and held the position of Auxiliary Officer for both the Biddeford and Saco Police Departments. Richard's dedication to public service was a testament to his strong sense of duty and willingness to help others.
Richard D. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Rene Roy and Jeannette Harvey Roy. He is survived by his three beloved sons: Stephen Roy and his wife Laurie of Tewksbury, MA; Jefferey Roy of Portsmouth, NH; and Brian Roy of Lyman, ME. He is also survived by his brothers, Rene Roy of Biddeford and Ronald Roy of Scarborough; granddaughter Katie Bianchi, grandson Cameron Roy, grandson Nicholas Roy, granddaughter Alexa Roy, granddaughter Megan Roy; great-granddaughter Alexis Bianchi and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hope Memorial Chapel, located at 480 Elm St, Biddeford, ME 04005.
