Obituary of Richard Sallett
Richard was the beloved son of the late Ivry Sallette and Fannie Sallette, born in Bibb County, Georgia on January 20, 1940. Richard was educated in the Bibb County Public School System. Richard was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church and served as a proud member of the deacon board. Richard encountered the lovely presence of Estella Jordan, and they united in holy matrimony on February 14, 1960. Richard was the first black butcher in a major grocery store, Winn Dixie. He worked in multiple stores.
Into each life some rain must fall. Sometimes it's hard to understand and harder still to say, "thy will be done". Faith was made for times like these and if we take God's hand, with loving wisdom, He will help our hearts to understand. On Saturday, January 14, 2024, the sunset of life set for our beloved Richard Sallett. He is preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, one grandson, and one graddaughter.
Left to cherish his loving memories is his beloved wife, Estella J. Sallette; sons: Jeffrey K. (Tammey) Sallette, Sr. and Anthony P. (Tanya) Sallette, Sr.; brother, Freddie Sallette; sister, Bobbie Cornelius; special friend, Andrew Ferguson of Orlando, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11 AM at New Zion Baptist Church, 1611 Burton Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204. Reverend Roy Wesley will officiate. Interment will be private.
