Richard Arthur Samuelson

Sam was born on October 6, 1939, in Staten Island, New York. He spent his early years in New Jersey before joining the military at just 17 years old.

Sam, a Vietnam Veteran, dedicated over 20 years of honorable service to the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Japan, Hawaii, and Long Beach before ultimately finding his home in San Diego.

He was a warm-hearted husband to Mayumi and a very devoted, doting father to his three beautiful children; Lisa Sandie and Kenny. He was also a loving "Papa" to his five grandchildren; Landon, Alivia, Ryland, Addalyn and Alyssa. Family meant everything to him.

Sam was a true do-it-yourselfer and a friendly, dependable neighbor. Those who knew him well understood that while he could be tough on the outside, he had a soft heart and cared deeply for the people he loved.

He will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, and the quiet, but steady love he gave to those closest to him.

We will forever cherish all the memories you've given us through February 11, 2026.
