Richard Savinsky, a devoted father, proud grandfather, and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the age of 88. He passed away peacefully with the support of family and hospice care at Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Born on January 16, 1937, in Lorain, Ohio, Richard was the son of Alex and Frances (Zawasky) Savinsky. A man of quiet strength and enduring work ethic, Richard began his career at US Steel immediately after high school and was a dedicated employee for the company, working primarily in Electrical Repair until his retirement.

Richard was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and also held memberships with the NRA and the United Polish Club. Though humble and reserved by nature, Richard lived a life full of devotion-to his faith, to his community, and most importantly, to his family.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: family vacations, golfing, fishing, reading newspapers every evening and cheering on his beloved Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He had a special reverence for nature, spending many peaceful hours hunting, observing wildlife, and taking long walks accompanied by his cherished Golden Retrievers-his constant companions and dear friends.

To those who knew him, Richard was a quiet and steady presence, someone whose love was felt deeply even when unspoken. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Linda Gross; his devoted son, Brian (Anne) Savinsky; his grandchildren, Matt (Gabrielle) Gross, Rachel Gross, and Rebecca (Courtney) Crews; and his brother, Ronald Savinsky. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol (Radman) Savinsky; his parents, Alex and Frances; his sister, Dorothy Dargo; and his son-in-law, Gary Gross.

Richard's family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Danbury Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice, both of Mount Vernon, Ohio, for their compassionate and dignified care.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Timothy O'Connor officiating. Richard will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Richard's honor to Golden Retrievers in Need, PO Box 24365, Cleveland, Ohio 44124 or to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
