Richard C. Schede Jr. (“Rich”), 64, of Milford, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 24, 2025. Born in Bridgeport to Richard C. Schede Sr. and Eleanor Moran Schede, Richard grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Andrew Warde High School in 1979. He spent most of his life in the Fairfield area, building deep friendships and a lifetime of memories along the way.
Richard was happiest outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, or taking his boat out on the water. A true jack-of-all-trades, he was the person everyone called when something needed fixing, building, or troubleshooting, and he never hesitated to drop everything to help. His big heart, loyalty, and generosity were constants in the lives of those who loved him.
Richard also had a deep love of cooking. He enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends, often turning simple gatherings into long-lasting memories. His Christmas Eve dinners, lovingly prepared each year, became treasured family traditions—moments filled with warmth, laughter, and the unmistakable flavors of his kitchen. Those meals remain some of his family’s fondest memories.
Richard’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his two children, Richard Schede III (Ricky) and Dana Schede, both of Milford; his sister, Paula Lazarus of Derby; his two nieces, Alexis Lazarus and her wife Tyler of Fairfield, and Noelle Lazarus of Bridgeport; and his nephew, Matthew Lazarus of Queens, NY. He also leaves behind his beloved Westie, Olivia, and more friends than can be counted. He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother Mark Schede, and his grandparents.
Richard will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, love of the outdoors, and the meals he shared that brought everyone together. His presence will be missed deeply, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
Friends and family may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home,39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield on Saturday December 6 from 9:00-11:00 AM. A prayer service will be held at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a donation in Richard’s memory to Alcoholics Anonymous.
