Richard John Schlette was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Phillip and Mildred Holder Schlette. After graduating, he proudly joined the United States Air Force and served eight years in the military police, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.

Following his military service, Richard began working with Farm Bureau delivering equipment to farmers, a job he truly loved. He later continued his career as a truck driver until his retirement.

In 1970, Richard met Carol, the love of his life. The two were married on May 2, 1971, in Macon, Georgia, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, patience, and devotion to family.

Richard was known for his sweet and laid-back nature. He had a special love for cars and enjoyed fishing, attending car shows, and listening to 90’s country music. He was deeply patriotic and will be remembered as a man who was always happy, patient, and kind to everyone he met. Above all, Richard loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.

Faith was an important part of Richard’s life. He dedicated the last fifteen years serving with Frontline Ministries and was previously a member of Tucker Road Assembly of God in Macon. His commitment to serving others reflected the generous and caring spirit he carried throughout his life.

Richard will be remembered for his steady presence, his warm heart, and the love he shared with those around him.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife, Carol Schlette; children, Catina Nicole Tomlinson (Jason) of Elko and Michael Phillip Schlette of Byron; grandchildren, Jesse Ethan Tomlinson and Micah Nathaniel Schlette; brother, Gary Schlette (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Andersonville National Cemetery where he will be interred.
