SFC (Ret) Richard N. Schooff passed away on February 27, 2026, at the NYS Veterans' House in Montrose, NY. He was 85 years old. Son of the late Wilhelm and Helena (Pekearo) Schooff, he was born on June 20, 1940, in New York, NY.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1988. He was a U.S. Paratrooper, a Purple Heart Recipient, and a Combat Infantry Badge recipient, among other recognitions he received for his service. As a Master Mechanic, he served as the West Point Auto Craft Shop Manager.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Shonie Schooff, of Highland Falls, NY; children: Donald Wilson of Montauk, NY; Richard P. Schooff of Switzerland; Wynnfred Aguinaldo of Nanuet, NY; Wilson Aguinaldo Nanuet, NY; Erika Giblin of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; Liway Namit of Nanuet, NY; and Ning Beltran of the Philippines; siblings, Joseph Schooff of Peekskill, NY; Wilhelmina Shaw of Monroe, NY; and Alwina Schooff of Warren Township, NJ; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews.. In addition to his parents, Richard was also predeceased by his sister, Johanna Schooff.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls, NY. Interment will follow at Eagle Valley Cemetery.
