Richard Ward Seamons, 70, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away August 24th from the effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Richard was the son of Jack Elwood Seamons and Connie Celestia Ward Seamons. He was born August 8th, 1955 in Ogden, Utah, but he spent all of his growing-up years living in Roy, Utah. After serving a mission for the LDS Church in Billings, Montana, he returned home and married Deborah Louise Cawley in the Salt Lake Temple.
Richard earned a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering at Oregon State University and a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from Indiana/Perdue University. He worked as a Nuclear Engineer in Civil Service for 33 years working in Radiological Controls for the first part of his career and later in Hazardous/Mixed Waste, monitoring nuclear waste for the United States Navy for aircraft carriers and submarines. He arranged transportation of Nuclear Waste from Japan to the United States. He lived in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Japan, and Arizona.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, giving of his time and talents by serving as a Branch President, a High Councilor, Young Men’s President, and Financial Clerk.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who could fix anything that was broken, and had a great listening ear. He loved to travel with his wife and saw many parts of the world. He accomplished the building of his own home which was something he had on his bucket list. He had just retired when he was struck with a devastating illness that took away his ability to walk and talk for the last 4 years of his life. He faced his illness with courage and grace, never complaining even while being completely bed-bound and unable to move.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Phoenix, Arizona and 5 children Kimberly (Jeffrey) Stinson of Springville; Jeremy (Emy) Seamons of Shelton, Washington; Courtney (Nicholas) Thomas of Allyn, Washington; Meagan (Alan) Taylor of Lehi, Utah; and Lindsey (Jason) Trudeau of Mapleton, Utah. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren. His father and mother proceeded him in death.
