Leola Seamster gave birth to Richard on November 9, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He attended primary school, middle school, and Fredrick Douglas High School in Lawton,
Oklahoma. Richard worked hard in the fields as a young man, developing his work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit by working with cardboard and recycling, paper routes, and filter replacement in HVAC systems. Later, he realized his love for driving and enrolled in trucking school, earning a CDL Certificate.
Richard adored traveling; you'd often see him with an enlarged map with different marks and highlights from various trips he'd gone to see family and friends near and far. Richard liked driving roads so much that he took his nieces, nephews, and grandkids along with his children to various amusement parks, including Disneyland, Six Flags, Knotts Berry Farm, and local beaches while visiting distant relatives.
Richard welcomed his first daughter, Prynallia Rhodes, in 1961. He later married Bertie McCoy on November 5, 1962, and they had two daughters, Shelly and Marcellus Seamster, and a son, Richard Zell Seamster. Richard arrived in Oregon from Lawton, Oklahoma in 1962, and worked at City Center Parking for more than 40 years until retiring in 2007.
Once retired, he remarried. He fell in love with Vonita Stroud and married her in 2015. Honing his passion for travel, he introduced his new wife and stepchildren to the roads that brought him so much joy while relocating back to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, separation and health caused him to return to Oregon in 2017, where he got deeply immersed in his relationship with God, regaining confidence, energy, and a glad spirit. He went on a road trip to California and Las Vegas with two of his sons, then later in 2023, he flew with his daughter and two grandsons back to Oklahoma to visit with family and loved ones at their gravesites.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father Leola and O.D. Seamster, Brother, Ray Seamster Sr., Linda Cooper, two daughters, Shelly and Marcellus Seamster, one unborn son, and stepdaughter, Kaiia.
Richard was a very loving man; his proudest achievement was the family he created. With everlasting memories, he leaves his wife Vonita Seamster, daughter Prynallia Rhodes, son Richard Zell Seamster Sr., brother, Joe Seamster, Sisters, sister Mother Lottie Hopkins and Joyce Martin, step-kids, Taleena, Najee, Malaya, and Keyahna, his grandchildren Boris Washington Jr, Quena"Quanaboo" Washington, Treneil Washington Sr, Richard Zell Seamster Jr, Richelle Seamster, Sharice Seamster, Richard Seamster the third, and Andre Seamster, 17 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great grandchildren. A special friend Bertie McCoy known as "Grandma Bertie" and a host of nieces and nephews.
Richard left this world peacefully, going to his Father.
