Richard Milton Sligh Jr.

Funeral Services for Richard Milton Sligh, Jr., 70, who entered into rest on January 14, 2024, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock from St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in North Augusta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 6 o'clock.
Born in North Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Richard Milton Sligh, Sr. and Frances Bunch Sligh. He was a 1971 graduate of North Charleston High School and graduated from Clemson University in 1975 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration from UT-Chattanooga in 1979. He moved to North Augusta in 1979 where he worked for many years for Columbia Nitrogen, DSM Resins, and retired as President of DSM Chemicals North America. Following his retirement, he enjoyed a second career as a caddy at Augusta National for 9 years and as a Certified Financial Planner.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church for 44 years where he served multiple stints on the Vestry. He loved to play golf and especially to watch his children play golf. He was a voracious reader and loved watching the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Frances Sligh.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catherine Young Sligh of North Augusta; one son, David Richard Sligh (Kathryn) of Conway, SC; one daughter, Darby Elizabeth Sligh of Cary, NC; three grandsons, Burch Carl Sligh, John Richard Sligh, and William Smith Sligh; and one brother, James I. Sligh (Beth) of Summerville.
