Richard “Dick” Campbell Smith, 95, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away April 30, 2025, at home. He was born on December 19, 1929, in Chevy Chase, Maryland and was the youngest of eight children. After many years of traveling for business and calling many different states home, he eventually retired to Jacksonville, FL.
Dick joined the Merchant Marines as a youth and was later drafted into the army where he served with honor during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to civilian life, he dedicated himself to his family and became a pillar of the finance industry. He loved basketball and was an avid golfer. He owned RPK Arabians where he, along with his spouse and youngest daughter, bred and raised Arabian show horses. Dick was also involved with his church and various charities, and he thrived on helping others and spending time with his family.
Dick is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Phyllis K. Smith, and is survived by their seven children: Robin Park, Leslie Smith, Cliff Horton, Debbie Grant (Tim), Sandra Sandberg (John), Rick Smith and Kacy Mack; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 3:00pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025, In the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, FL.
