Richard Allen Smith was born on January 6th, 1960, in Fresno, CA. Richard grew up in Derby Acres, CA, attending Midway School and Taft Union High School. He spent many years working in the oilfields, where he became a welder and, for some time, owned Richard Smith's Welding. Richard later relocated to Grants Pass, OR. He had a love for animals and a passion for saving them. He never hesitated to bring home a pet that he and his mom, Palmira, would nurse back to health and add to the family. He also had a great passion for music, attending many concerts over the years, one of his most loved was Pink Floyd. He passed away at home in Grants Pass on October 28th, 2025.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Palmira Smith. He is survived by his son, Richard, and his wife, Brittany Smith, and their children, Mykenna, Arianna, Journey, and Avery. His bonus daughter and her husband, Holi and James Dahl, and their children, Alex & Marklie. His sister and brother-in-law, Janet & Lee Draper, and brother and sister-in-law, John and Pam Smith, and their children, Alexandria, Joshua, Peni, and Kayla. Richard is also survived by his good friend Cathy and many other friends.
