Richard Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molloy Funeral Home - West Hartford on Mar. 17, 2026.
Richard G. Smith, a current resident of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on a crisp autumn day, he embodied the spirit and tenacity of his hometown throughout his life.

Richard proudly served his country as a member of the 2nd Div. United States Marine Corps, where he exemplified courage and dedication during his service in Vietnam. His time in the Marines was a source of immense pride for him, and he carried the values he learned during his service into all aspects of his life.

He was surrounded by a close-knit circle of dear friends who were like family to him. His warmth, kindness, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, March 24, at 1 p.m. at the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown, Connecticut. The service will include military honors to commemorate his service and sacrifice for his country.

Arrangements have been made by Molloy Funeral Home.

Richard will be dearly missed by his friends and all who knew him, forever remembered for his generous spirit and unwavering loyalty. As we gather to say goodbye, we honor a life well-lived and a man who exemplified what it means to live with courage and integrity.
