Richard R. Snyder, Sr., 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born Feb. 15, 1957, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Charles Snyder and Delores Snyder (Stump).
Richard graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1975.
He was a self-employed carpenter with Berry and Snyder Construction. Richard enjoyed NASCAR and golf. One of his favorite pastimes was bass fishing. He also loved relaxing in his pole barn and watching the deer in the field. Outside of all of that, his favorite times were spent making memories with his family.
Richard married Polly Snyder (Pope) on Oct. 24, 1975, and she survives. They spent 46 wonderful years together.
He is survived by his mother, his son, Richard Snyder Jr. (Dawn), daughter, Jennifer Kieninger (Brad), grandchildren; Gavin Cox, Colin Kieninger, Lauren Fisher, Katie Donohue, great grandchildren; Liam and Sophia, brother, Jeff Snyder, along with several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and his brother, Dave Snyder.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 25, from 4-7 p.m., at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Christopher T. Holland officiating.
Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Richard's family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
