Richard Spracklin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mount Laurel Home for Funerals & Cremation Services, Inc. on Oct. 2, 2024.
Richard Percy "Bee" Spracklin, 68, of Westampton, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Doylestown, PA, Richard was born to Ivy Irvane (nee Templeton) and the late John Spracklin. He has been a resident of Mount Holly most of his life. Bee as he was affectionately known by family was an independent carpenter and loved to be his own boss. He was a self made man who marched to the beat of a drum that only he heard. Bee had quite a green thumb, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, feeding the birds and always had 2 or 3 cats to tend to.
Bee was also known to try his luck at games of chance but preferred horse racing. He was a talented cook and his family and friends will miss his fried chicken and pasta dishes. Bee was always active with weight lifting and preferred biking everywhere instead of driving. In spite of his illness, he still biked around on his electric bike. Even with his health challenges, Bee knew that he lived a good and full life and was not afraid to die. Bee will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Bee is survived by his loving sons, Samuel P. and Daniel N.; his devoted caretaker and "happily divorced" ex wife, Denise M. Spracklin; his beloved mother, Ivy Irvane Spracklin and his dear brothers, Darrell, Bob and John. Bee is also survived by his stepchildren, Rebecca and Ryan, step grandson Shane Shields and many loving nieces and nephews. Bee is predeceased by his father, John and his daughter, Rachel M.
Bee's services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bee's name to the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Rick was my best friend, Rachel Spracklin's, Dad and he always talked to me, helped me out if I needed it, and he was always sarcastic in a funny way... He always made me laugh!! I'll ALWAYS remember how much he loved to garden and how much he loved his family. He was an awesome guy. Truly one of a kind. He'll be missed

Desi and I adored Rick, his wry smile, and his bread pudding! He was beloved to us all. One of my favorite memories of Rick was from my wedding, when after an entire day of overcast, he ran to the front of the church, and started ringing the Church bells. In the moment, the sun broke through the crowd, as Chuck and I left the church together.

It was a glorious, joyful moment, and it seemed like he brought that to being.

I will always remember Bee as a kind humble soul and I feel blessed to have had a friendship with him. He was very athletic and participated in sports at the varsity level at RVRHS and Burlington County College. My most sincere and deepest condolences to his families. R. I. P. brother.

Rick (as he later preferred) has been a part of my life for over 60 years and whether as friend or brother was family, and, an exceptionally close friend. We always hiked, fished, canoed or just enjoyed company and outdoors. He loved to hike and enjoy the mountains. As his obituary said, he made the most of life to his own drummer, and I was blessed to be a part of it.

Can see Bee now still, running around in his swimsuit at Westwood in Mount Holly. He was a talented and happy swim team racer!
