Chief Warrant Officer Richard J. Starr, U.S. Army Retired, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on August 26, 1936, in Buffalo, New York.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army, Department of Defense. He enlisted in 1966 and retired honorably in 1978 after a distinguished military career. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, a testament to his bravery and dedication. His commitment to his military career and to the mission exemplified the highest values of the U.S. Army.

On March 9, 1997, Richard married the love of his life, Nancy Starr (née Smith). Together, they built a life full of love, loyalty, and respect. Fort Myers, Florida, became their home, where Richard enjoyed his retirement years surrounded by family, friends, and the community he cherished.

Richard's legacy is one of service, honor, and devotion-to his country, to his family, and to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, Florida.
