Richard Max Steimle was born December 23, 1940 to Maxwell Stephens and Margaret White Steimle in Santa Monica, California. He is now enjoying a joyful reunion as he was the first born of three other children who, with his parents, have preceded him in death: Elaine Gartin, Georgia (Dennis) Archibald, and Dennis Steimle. Richard completed his mission on Earth on October 31, 2024. He was 83 years old.
Richard was raised in Malad, Idaho, where he developed a great love for his family and became the man of the house at an early age. There he graduated from high school, worked at the local Texaco service station, and then went on to finish an Electrical Engineering degree at Utah State University. While employed at Motorola, he also completed an MBA at Arizona State University. Richard’s professional career provided the opportunity for his family to reside in California, Arizona, and Utah as he worked for various government contractors developing military communication systems.
Beautiful Sharon Yvonne Vance caught Richard’s eye at a church dance in Santa Monica, California. After a sweet courtship, they were married in the Los Angeles, California Temple in 1965. They have been looking forward to their 60th wedding anniversary coming up this March 5th. Throughout these years, Richard and Sharon added six surviving children and their spouses to their eternal family: Charlotte (Oscar) Arana, Kristina (James) Brooks, Brenda (Art) Whitby, Nathan (Mickelle) Steimle, Tamara (Erik) Groethe, and Linda (Michael) Richards. Richard and Sharon love and adore all of their 23 surviving grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Richard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He grew in ability and faith by serving in any capacity asked of him, including serving five full-time missions with his sweetheart. Richard was always doing something in his life that strengthened his relationship with Jesus Christ. He felt so strongly about the gospel that it was easy for him to point others to Christ.
Richard served his family. We are filled with gratitude for his legacy of faith, willingness, organization, preparedness, gardening, hugs, fitness, patience, humility, service, and work ethic! With his creative mind, Richard could fix just about anything, program computers, and build whatever he imagined. He loved scouting. Richard earned the rank of Eagle Scout and he was always prepared with a watch, pocket knife and note pad. He loved to document everything by journaling and taking pictures at family events. Among many needful things, Richard loved to collect watches, calculators, cameras, and anything electronic.
Richard's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Covington Senior Living in Farmington for their love and compassionate care.
