Richard Steinbook Obituary

Richard Mark Steinbook, M.D.born April 16, 1940 was a multifaceted individual. As Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science University of Miami Medical school and vice chair for Education he trained Miami psychiatrists from 1975 to 2015. He did research, published over 30 scientific papers and treated many forms of serious mental illness.

He was a graduate of Miami Beach High School, University of Florida undergraduate and Medical School, internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Psychiatric Training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. After two years in the United States Air Force he returned to Miami to join the faculty of the University of Miami and JM.

He was also a skeptic with a never- ending attempt to solve problems, to help others and reveal truths. He was a life-long magician known internationally as Richard Mark, he was a member of The International Brotherhood and Society of American Magicians, The Psychic Entertainers Association and was an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle of London. He published 10 books and enumerable magic mysteries for hobbyists and professionals.

He leaves behind Suzanne, his wonderful wife of 58 years as well as son's Brett and Darren Steinbook (Beverly), his granddaughter Stella Steinbook, and sister Judith (Barry) Katzen.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Mt. Nebo Kendall.
