Richard Durward Stevens, 82, of Isola, Mississippi passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. "Dickie" was born to Samuel Durward Stevens and Dwendolyn Dickerson Stevens on September 2, 1943 in Amory, Mississippi. After graduating from Isola High School in 1961 he attended Mississippi Delta Junior College. He spent time in high school and college being a disc jockey. Dickie was also a member of the Air National Guard.
Dickie's life was driven by the will to be successful in what ever he was involved in. He did not shy away from getting his hands dirty and preferred it that way. Whether it was building air planes and stock cars, flying, racing go-carts, working horses, playing golf, his hobbies centered around any activities his children showed interest in. In the 1970s, he was a car owner for the National Dirt Racing Association. He traveled the Southeast with his driver Jerry Inmon and dominated at dirt tracks far and wide. Later in life, he found his niche in classic car restoration. He absolutely loved tearing a car down to the frame and rebuilding each piece to like new condition. Once a car met his standard of perfection, he enjoyed hauling them to car shows and sharing each story with anyone willing to talk to him about it. His wife Carolyn and his children and grandchildren often accompanied him to these shows. They also enjoyed taking several cars to Cruising on the Coast each year. His cars could often be seen in local parades hauling Homecoming Maids and Queens and even Hot Tamale Sweethearts. Anything he pursued, he was going to give one hundred percent of his effort and attention.
Dickie was also business minded. He was relentless in his pursuit of knowledge and would learn everything he could about any business he was involved in. He spent time as a pilot with Stevens Flying Service, Belzoni Implement (International Harvester), Stevens Enterprises Fish Farm, President and CEO of Consolidated Catfish Producers, LLC, the largest employer in Humphreys County since 1985 and 26 years serving his community as the President of the Humphreys County Board of Supervisors.
He loved his family dearly and wanted to be present at any activity they participated in. His children and grandchildren were the loves of his life.
He also enjoyed serving people in his community. Passing out candy at Halloween was particularly special to him. He loved to surprise children with new bicycles, but if one could be fixed, he would work on them with any child that asked. He wanted them to learn to fix things with their hands because it gave them a better appreciation for the bike.
Dickie was proceeded in death by his parents, Sam and Dwen Stevens. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Rodgers Stevens, a daughter, Andrea Marshall Elam (Marty) of Belzoni, two sons, Johnny Marshall (Christie) of Inverness, and Brad Stevens (Stephanie) of Indianola, his grandchildren, Josh Hinson, Jenny Hinson Clow (Daniel), John Lindley Marshall (Sabrina), Carey Marshall, Steven Marshall (Kylee), Chassie Lundy Stevens, Brycen Stevens, great grandchildren, Hayden, Cooper, Axl and Raegan Hinson, Caroline Clow, Mila Marshall, and Teal Marshall. He is also survived by his sister Sue Minchew (Doug) of Starkville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prosperity Comes from the Lord.
Psalms 127
1Unless the Lord builds a house,
They who build it labor in vain;
Unless the Lord guards a city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is futile for you to rise up early,
To [ ]stay up late,
To eat the bread of painful labor;
This is how He gives to His beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a [ ]gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one's youth.
5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.
