Richard (Rick) Clyde Straley, 90, died Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his home after an extended illness.
Born January 7, 1935, in Lemaster, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. Norman and Mary Deshong.
He was a proud and hardworking employee of Beck Manufacturing in Waynesboro, retiring in 2009 after 51 years of dedicated service.
His favorite pastime was farming and planting up to 1200 pounds of potatoes to raise, harvest and sell annually to his customers for a very, very reasonable price. He would always frown when we mentioned increasing the price. He also loved Ford and Allis-Chalmers antique tractors.
Richard was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who lived by example of the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary (Bonnie) Yvonne Straley; one son Michael L. Straley and wife Robin; and one great-granddaughter, Jane Rilynn Straley, Strasburg, VA.
Sadly, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Leah Renee Straley and Christopher Scott Straley, and faithful companion Isabella.
Arrangements cordially handled by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home,1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
Memorial donations can be made to Leah's Legacy, 10631 Grant Shook Rd., Greencastle PA 17225.
There will be no visitation or service.
