Richard John Stuczynski, 81, of Nashua, NH (previously of Lowell, MA), passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025. Born on August 9, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Thaddeus and Salomea (Migut) Stuczynski. Richard studied Physics at SUNY Stony Brook on an academic scholarship where he also competed on the rowing team. While there, he met his wife Karolyn and together they had four children whom they raised in Sharon, MA.
A proud veteran, Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant Combat Engineer earning the Bronze Star with Valor and the Army Commendation (also known as the Green Hornet) with Valor. Following his service in Vietnam, he continued his military career with distinction in the Airborne Rangers and Green Berets before retiring as a Major in the National Guard.
After the military, Richard worked for many years as a systems engineer on IBM mainframes with EDS and later at SEI. He was known for his keen mind, quiet strength, and dedication to his work. Richard was an avid skier and a loyal fan of all the Boston sports teams. As a long distance runner, he competed in multiple marathons.
He had a great love for his family and took enormous pride in being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Kier and David Whiting; his sons (and daughters in law), Richard Stuczynski; Matthew Stuczynski (Gretchen Babbitt) and Adam (Holly) Stuczynski; his younger brother and sister in law, Edward and Marie Stuczynski; his eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and close friends Diane Sakalaukus and Anne Rommell.
