Illini Cremation - PeoriaRichard A. “Rick” Summers, 71, of Peoria Illinois, died on July 23, 2025 at Grand Regency of Peoria. He was born on November 14, 1953 in Peoria to the late John and Barbara (Van Winkle) Summers. Rick is survived by his children Lindsay Summers of Greenwood Indiana, John (Nkaoxue) Summers of Appleton Wisconsin; sisters Jane Reimann and Linda Walsh both of Springfield Illinois; and grandchildren Breyon, Olivia, Lincoln, & Camden. He was also preceded in death by his brother John “Matt” Summers.
Rick was a retail store manager for Welander Brothers Shoe Store in downtown Peoria for many years. He then moved to Las Vegas to tend bar at the famous Dessert Inn for several years. Rick came back to Peoria and worked the bar at Jim’s Steakhouse until he retired.
Rick was the ultimate music enthusiast, a skilled and accomplished carpenter who created hundreds of speaker cabinets, amongst other wood related products. This including the construction of the rear bar at the Tartan Inn in West Peoria, his favorite social location. He had an enormous capacity to love and refused to be anyone but himself. His celebration of life will be held at the Tartan Inn Tavern in West Peoria on 8/23/2025 from 10AM-1PM.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at the Tartan Inn Tavern in West Peoria on 8/23/2025 from 10AM-1PM. Cards & flowers can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com
