Richard J. Szkotak, 88, of Vernon, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Wynn Hospital.
Born on April 17, 1937, in Utica, Richard was the son of John and Helen (Tabor) Szkotak. He was a graduate of New Hartford High School.
Richard was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary (Borden) in 1995.
He was employed with Brinks as a branch manager prior to retiring.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Szkotak, Brian and Audra Szkotak; daughter, Kathy Szkotak; grandchildren, Jeremy (Patrice) Kelly, Kyle (Cassie Moffit) Szkotak, Alex (Jenna) Szkotak, Brandon (Jenn Taylor) Szkotak, Austin Szkotak, Matthew (Emily) Rosado, Sophia Rosado, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart & St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Inurnment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville.
The Szkotak family extends their gratitude to Wynn Hospital Emergency Department and ICU for Richard's compassionate care.
Remembrances in Richard's name may be made to the charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of McGrath, Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors, 284 Main St, New York Mills.
