Richard Taylor Obituary

Richard Fred Taylor, Jr. (Dick), passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3rd . Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 28, 1933, to Richard Fred Taylor, Sr. and Edna Amanda Olsen Taylor. Richard was raised in the LDS church. He is predeceased by his brother Rodney Taylor (Marlene) and survived by his loving sister Edna Lorainne Bitter (Ron). Dick graduated from South High School where he played football and sang in the choir. He graduated from the University of Utah and enrolled in the Air Force, stationed at Salina Air Force Base where he worked in the Office of Special Investigation. Richard married Charlaine LeSueur (later divorced) and shortly after attended Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D.C., where he also served in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant and Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations.
The Taylors moved to Connecticut where Richard was employed by United Technologies Corporation for twenty-eight years, ten years as an assistant counsel at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Division, eight years as Vice president and Counsel of the Hamilton Standard Division two years as Vice President and General Manager of Hamilton Test Systems and eight years as Vice President and General Counsel and Secretary of the Carrier Corporation. His duties included responsibility for all legal matters of the Corporation, worldwide. Richard is admired for his strength and leadership in business.
Richard later married Yolanda Barrio, in Hartford, Connecticut. The family moved to Cazenovia, New York with Carrier Corporation. Richard travelled for his work throughout the world including Europe, the Middle East, Iran, Scandinavia, India, and others. He worked in at least 25 foreign countries not counting Alaska, Hawaii, and Hong Kong. He spent lots of time in Brazil and England. Richard retired in 1990 and subsequently practiced law in Syracuse, New York, for several years. Richard later married Dr. Deborah Beth Klein. Deborah passed away on June 3, 2022.
Richard believed in community service. He was on the Board of Crouse Hospital Foundation, the Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Syracuse Opera Company Board.
Richard was a loving father to his six children, Richard F. Taylor III (Gale), Michael Taylor (Mary), Merrianne Lee (Rich), Sue Trent (Kevin), Wendy Taylor, Jaime Lawless (Sean). Dick has 9 Grandchildren Brooke Mitisek (Erik), Nicholle Taylor (Adam Bolton), Julie Jenkins (Joe), Cole Taylor (Lizzy), Hannah Taylor (LaTina Porter), Taylor Varnum (Ryan), Kevin Trent (Elise Brown), Riley Lawless and Robert Lawless. Richard also has 9 Great Grandchildren. Johnny, Michael, Annabelle, Chase, Nicolette, Taylor, Ace, Jacques (Jax) and August (Auggie). Richard leaves behind his beloved poodle, Joshua. Richard's dog will serve as a service dog to the residents of Brookdale Liverpool where he is already part of the family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jason from the Crouse Hospital ICU, Bridget, Jenn, Rachel and the care team on 4 North, his loving caregiver and friend Denise White and the wonderful Brookdale Liverpool team, as well as his physician of 50 years, Dr. Christopher J Stringer.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 11 from 10 am to 12 noon with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, 4504 W Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215.
