Richard Tipton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Small’s Mortuary - Mobile on Apr. 3, 2023.
Richard E. Tipton, a longtime resident of New Orleans and most recently Wagarville, Al made his earthly transition on the early morning of March 2, 2023 while at Mobile Infirmary. Richard was born on March 14, 1954, to the late Nathaniel Charles (NC) Tipton and Annie Lee Johnson in Mobile, Al.
Richard was frequently called "Bubba" in his early years and later "Tip" by his family and friends. He was a graduate of Southern Choctaw High School Class of 1971. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. Richard attended Livingston University and while there he joined his beloved fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
On June 30, 1979 he was united in holy matrimony to Ollie Mae Hicks of Koenton, AL. To this union, they were blessed with 2 children: Aurelia & Richard Terrelle. Over the years, Richard was employed with various jobs eventually retiring after 15 years with Avondale Shipyard due to injury. Richard was a very quiet soul who pretty much kept to himself. Those who interacted with him will attest to his cerebral nature and quirky sense of humor. He loved his New Orleans Saints football team and going to casinos.
Preceding him in death were his parents Nathaniel Charles (NC) Tipton and Annie Lee Johnson and a devoted niece, Catina P. Wimbley.
Left to cherish his memories is a devoted sister (whom he resided with for the past 10 years), Jacquelyn A. Wimbley of Wagarville, AL. Spouse: Ollie M. Tipton of New York, New York, Children: Aurelia (Nesha) Tipton and Richard (Richie) Tipton both of New York, New York, daughter: Tanesha McMillian of Mobile, AL, Nephews & Nieces: John A. Wimbley III (Chontel) of Tampa, FL, Betty Seabrook (Anthony) of Sun City Center, FL, Thomas C. Wimbley (devoted nephew) of Moss Point, MS, Corey Wimbley, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A small grave side cremation memorial service and internment will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, 10:00 AM at the Queen Earl Cemetery, 774 Barlow Road, Millry, AL. located next to Macedonia Baptist Church in Barlow, AL.

Church Going City Girl

I am back. Haven't been able to say anything. My heart is heavy and my eyes are filled with tears. I am keeping up with the days that you have been gone. I am trying my best to move on. I guess it's not enough time, because the hurt is still there, and the tears can't be held back. I miss you. I have accepted the will of God, but the void still remains in my heart. It hurts. Love you COUNTRY BOY!

I am back. My eyes are still teary. Time heals all wounds. This wound will need a lot of time to heal. I am still lost for words over your departure into your new time. Rest in Peace Country Boy. I will be back. Love that will never end. Good morning

April 15, 2023 For 50 years I had to wait for God to reunite us together. Those Fifty Years I lost do not compare to the One Year I got to embrace you in my arms. I will forever cherish the time we gained. I love you Country boy.
