Richard Todd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home - Framingham on Jan. 19, 2026.
Richard "Dickie" Todd, 81, of Lady Lake, Florida, formerly of Ashland, MA, passed away on January 15, 2026. Finally meeting back up with the love of his life, Helene. Born in Framingham, MA to James and Margaret (Conlin) Todd, Dick lived a life defined by service, dedication, and a dry sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes.

After graduating Framingham High School in 1962, Dick served in the National Guard before beginning his 32-year career as a Framingham firefighter. Dick was known as the Overtime King, taking every shift that became available. Dick loved spending time with all his firefighter brothers–at the station and out. After retiring from the fire department, he became a school bus driver, known as "Richie Rich" where his no-nonsense approach and colorful stories (including the time he threw kids off the bus, and not at their stop) became legendary.

Dickie was a creature of habit who loved routine, sports, and a good story. A talented lefty pitcher and football player in his younger days, he never missed one of his son's sporting events. Mr Todd could often be heard "coaching" from the sidelines; which continued onto his grandkids games as well.

In his retirement years at Water Oaks Community in Florida - a place he and his beloved wife Helene had spent their winters for about 30 years - Dick ended up moving to full time where found his perfect rhythm: golfing three days a week, playing cards, and drinking with his buddies on the patio. His wonderful group of friends at Water Oaks brought him tremendous joy.

Dick was predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Helene (Player) Todd, his brother Jim and sister-in-law Carole Todd of Union, NH, and brother-in-law Karl Weinert of Billerica, MA.

He is survived by his daughter Brigette Todd of Myrtle Beach, SC; his son Michael Todd and his wife Nikki of Framingham, MA; his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Riley, Bryce, and Dominic and Griffin and Shaylin; his sisters Mary (Todd) Weinert of Billerica and Cindy (Todd) Lilley and her husband Jeff of Southborough, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his grumpy charm and quick wit.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Dick's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Framingham on Thursday evening, January 29th from 4-7PM. A celebrational toast will be on 1/24 at 1PM at the Water Oaks County Club Estates in Lady Lake, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 220 N Main St #104 Natick, MA 01760, https://give.cff.org/massachusetts-ri/donate?rbref=homepage&donate
