Richard G. Traxler

Richard G. Traxler, age 86, of Fairlawn passed away August 15, 2025 with family by his side in Hospice care following a recent diagnosis of metastatic cancer.

Richard graduated from St. Mary High School, Class of 1956, and the University of Akron, where he was a Lone Star. He retired in 1991 from the Norton Public School system as a high school math teacher, and also taught drivers education in the summer. Richard was a loyal lifelong Acme shopper having worked there in his younger days. He also worked seasonally for H&R Block Kenmore office as a tax preparer for over 15 years. Richard enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and very frequent trips to the library to peruse and borrow reading materials, however playing bridge was his favorite hobby. Playing bridge online as well as participating in ACBL gatherings, Richard achieved rank of Diamond Life Master, active for many years in ACBL Unit 107.

Richard was preceded in death by parents, Madeline (nee Rosche) and Gerald, his wife Margaret (nee Whitmire) and their sons Alan and Eric.

Richard is survived by his daughters Autumn Kahwaji (Walid) and Ann Van Wagoner (David), and beloved grandsons, Blake Elias, David Walid and Richard Demarest "Demmy"; as well as an extended family of cousins and in-laws.

The family appreciates the support of all the medical professionals that provided care for Richard especially during his many years of living with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
