The Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Trout of Wadena will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Jean-Claude Duncan as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Parish Hall with Prayers at 6:00 and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,
Wadena, MN.

Richard passed away on January 8, 2026, with his family by his side at his home in rural
Wadena, MN. Compassionate care was provided by Vivie Hospice.
Richard was one of 13 children born to Edward and Amelia (Macho) Trout on December 21, 1931, in
Staples, MN. He attended country school and high school. Richard and Marilyn Schieffer were united in marriage on August 4, 1958, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Browerville. Richard deeply loved his family and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His work-life revolved around dairy farming. He was a talented innovator who could build and fix anything! He enjoyed being in nature especially when fishing, hunting, and gardening. Richard was a lifetime card player and after retirement, took pleasure in baking. He found time to be involved with Knights of Columbus, St. Ann's Parish Council, Lions Club, and was influential on the Land O' Lakes Dairy Board.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents: Edward and Amelia; siblings: Clifford (Jean) Trout, Francis Trout, Walt (Shannon) Trout, Virginia (Ted) Wilson, Art (Lorraine) Trout, and an infant sibling; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Regina Schieffer; brothers-in-law: Lee Kalisch, Leon Hoemberg and Ronald Poynter; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Trout.
Forever remembering Richard will be his wife: Marilyn; children: Larry Trout of Houston, TX, Thomas (Wendy) Trout of Northfield, MN, Julie (Bob) Maroo of Rochester, MN, Diane (Ric) Fournier of Annandale, MN and Karen (Fern) Trout of Detroit Lakes, MN. There are 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Siblings are: Rosemarie Kalisch, Geneva Hoemberg, Donald Trout, Eileen Poynter, Harold (Joyce) Trout and Leonard (Linda) Trout; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Borell, Alec Fournier, Austin Fournier, Kurtis Trout, Wesley Trout and Jacob Trout.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Christenson, Jenifer Majerus, Morgan Fournier (a.k.a. Little Sister Candice), Katiana Lo and Laura Trout.
Richard fought the good fight, finished the course, and always kept the faith.
