Richard B Walkey, 78, Vietnam War Veteran and longtime resident of Crest Hill, IL passed away Saturday August 20th, 2022. Walkey as he was known to many, was born January 8, 1944 to the late George & Lenore Walkey.
Walkey, a proud American served in the United States Marine Corp., and was honorably discharged in 1972.
It s no secret that war is hell. To know and love Walkey was to understand and support the psychological wounds that were a result of combat trauma. He will always be remembered by his bravery, sense of humor, experienced mechanic and avid gun enthusiast.
Walkey is survived by his two sons: Richard B Hirsch (Walkey) and Joseph M. Walkey ; one brother: George B. Walkey; one sister: Sue Chapman (Walkey) and his good friend, Geralyn Duff. The girl who will always be known for her picture being on the side of his RV. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two nephews as well as numerous friends.
A graveside service for Walkey will be held September 9, 2022 at 9:30am at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery with military honors rendered. Family and friends are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to service.
