Frederick Bruce Walkey

Beloit, WI - Frederick Bruce Walkey, 88, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at home. He was born on July 23, 1935, in Beloit, WI, the son of Elizabeth and Stuart Walkey. Bruce grew up on the family resort in Hayward, WI. As a teenager, he would guide for the visitors to the resort which he enjoyed doing. At 17 he moved to Beloit for work. He worked at Beloit Iron Works, Fisher Body and then United Industries until he retired in 1998 after 42 years. In 1957 he married Shirley Cohoon. On July 9, 1966, he married Jan Langklotz. Bruce loved partridge and deer hunting. For many years he did trap shooting at Izaak Walton. Bruce was a huge Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger and Milwaukee Bucks fan. Bruce and Jan enjoyed many summers cruising Rock River on their pontoon boat with family and friends. When he retired, he loved cooking and doing yard work. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jan; children, Penny Anderson, Rick Walkey, Stuart (Pam) Walkey, Shawna Konitzer, Fred Walkey Jr., Mark (Amber) Walkey and Dena (Jeremy) Mortimer; grandchildren, Jesse Anderson, Erin (Ethan) Helm, Stu (Sylvia) Walkey, Heather (Brian) Hansen, Danielle Walkey, Tyler Walkey, Kendalyn Walkey, Christopher Ivanovichi, Bettina Lusk, Abigail Mortimer, and Addison Mortimer; great grandchildren, Mason Hisel, Naomi and Nolan Hansen, Saoirse Walkey, and Owen Hoops; sister, Karen Ayers; brothers-in-law, Rod Langklotz and Jim Blauw; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Elling Haugan; niece, Deb Haugan; son-in-law, Remy Konitzer; sisters-in-law, Joann Blauw and Tricia Langklotz and brother-in-law, LaVerne Langklotz. Funeral Service for Bruce will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with Pastor Larry Froemming officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
