Richard “Rich” John Walters was called home in the early morning hours of Christmas Day, passing peacefully at his home. All that knew Rich, knew he entered the gates of heaven hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things. Enter the joy of your master!” Matthew 25:21,23
Rich was born on September 30, 1934, to Elmer & Ruth (McLees) Walters. In his early years, he survived Polio going on to lead a full and meaningful life. He met and married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Pierce on Feb. 10, 1956. They were blessed with four children. Rich was most at home farming and working the land. As a young boy he worked on the family apple orchard in Pickwick, MN and later owned and operated his own dairy farm in Pickwick. He also worked as a milk delivery driver for Springdale Dairy and delivering concrete for Modern Concrete.
Most mornings he could be found eating breakfast with friends and he never missed an opportunity to play cards with friends, his favorite being “500”. Rich and Pat lived a life devoted to Christ and were members of Pickwick Baptist Church and recently Cornerstone Church. Their faithfulness to each other and God was demonstrated in Rich’s loving care of Pat for 15 years after she suffered an aneurism that left her wheelchair bound.
Rich is survived by his four children: Randy (Karen) Walters, Cheryl (Kevin) Larsen, Scott (Kris) Walters, and Tammy (Bob) Pape. Sister: Kathy Walters (Judy Holte) and sisters-in-laws: Grace, Norma and Diane Walters. Grandchildren; Corey (Breana) Larsen, Marcus (Megan) Walters, Toni (Ryan) Daley, Marshall (Mariah) Walters, Mitchell (Maddie Nelson) Walters, Jay Walters, Shawn (Hannah) Pape, Jena (Mitch) DeMoss, Allen (Marissa Turner) Walters.
