Richard Allan Way, 92, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully in his sleep at The Cottages in Cicero Wednesday April 23, 2025. Born in Syracuse, he was the only son of Harold and Irene (Ginkel) Way. Richard was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Nancy (Pearson) in 2019. He grew up spending summers on Oneida Lake where he met his wife, Nancy. He was a member of the US Army and competed on the High-Power Rifle Team. Richard's lifelong hobby was playing the accordion. Richard worked at Koerner Ford of Syracuse for 50 years as Controller and for a period of time was a co-owner. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Golfing, Trap/Target Shooting and Yankees baseball. He was a member of the Cavalry Club and Pompey Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are his three children, Amy (Donald) Scheg, Lory Simonds and Todd (Denise Hoag); five grandchildren, Heather (Carrie Brownell) Scheg, Erin (Steve) Ehrhart, Jeffery (Monika) Simonds, Michael (Sarah) Simonds, and Morgan (Brady) Mitchell; four great grandchildren, Faye and Pierson Ehrhart, Jude Brownell, and Everett Simonds; two nephews; and many friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday April 30 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Collamer United Church, 6865 Fly Road, East Syracuse with a church service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collamer United Church or Pompey Rod and Gun Club.
