Dear Letha and family,
I was so surprised to see Richard's burial site while visiting my mother's grave this weekend. I was only there for a few minutes on a whirlwind trip back to see family. You all have my deepest sympathy in your loss of a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
I knew him best as a kind, gentle and quiet neighbor who treated Katy as if she were his own granddaughter while she toddled up to him. We spent hours talking about his work on computers, his help in digitizing Letha' s quilt designs, kids and grandkids.
Over the years we've dropped by to visit. Always we were met with Richard's kind warm smile greeting us as if we'd never left at all.
We will miss him; but heaven has welcomed him. Be at peace, Richard. You were loved by so many.

Dad was a fun guy with a wonderful sense of humor. It was a great blessing for Kathy and I to have been able to share the moments raising our children with "Grandpa" in our lives. He loved life in Fort Wayne. He was more than a father. He was a friend and teacher to me and all of those who knew his gentle spirit. Dear father, you will be missed. It was a pleasure to have you by my side in life and a honor to be by your side in death. May you rest in peace.
