Tom was born on October 9, 1952 in Wabash, IN the son of the late James and Edna (Lautzenheiser) Wertenberger. After earning his degree from Purdue University, Tom moved to Michigan to work at Weldun International where he met the love of his life, Dolores Boldt. They married on April 29th, 1977 and shared 46 memorable years together. Tom was a very hard working family man who enjoyed coaching his children’s sports, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School at Zion United Church of Christ, Baroda. Tom’s first love was God and then his family. He enjoyed being outdoors by farming, gardening and fishing, and in his younger years he liked to water ski and wrestle. Tom was also a Mr. Fix-It, everything had a use, he was not wasteful. He never met a stranger, and always wore a smile.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores; three sons: Matthew Wertenberger, Joel (Melanie) Wertenberger, Nathanael (Tiffanie) Wertenberger; a daughter: Heidi (Matthew) Cuthbert; five grandchildren: Zackary and Alexa Lamonday, Reed and Ellestyn Wertenberger and Hudson Cuthbert; a sister: Martha (Danny) Young, a brother: Larry (Roxie) Wertenberger and a sister-in-law: Paula Wertenberger.

Tom was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wertenberger.
