Richard C. Wickenheiser, Jr., 86, of York, PA, passed away peacefully at WellSpan York Hospital on January 10, 2025. He was the devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Nancy J. (Botteicher) Wickenheiser.
Born on March 30, 1938, in Columbia, PA, he was the son of the late Richard C. Wickenheiser, Sr. and Katrina Fay (Keller) Wickenheiser.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and stepchildren, as well as his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Whitmoyer.
A proud Marine Reservist, Richard served his country with honor. He worked in the textile industry for over 40 years, retiring from the New York Wire Company, where his dedication and work ethic were well-respected. His passion for family was always evident, and he treasured time spent with his loved ones.
Richard was an avid lover of music and reading, finding peace and inspiration through both. His kind heart and generosity will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Springwood Overlook, 2330 Freedom Way, York, PA 17402. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, in Richard's honor.
