Visit the Adams Funeral Services - Savannah website to view the full obituary.

Richard Williams was born on December 14, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Robert L. Williams and Lillian I. Williams. He spent part of his childhood in Alachua, Florida, where early experiences of country living shaped his perspective and became fond memories he later shared with family.

He graduated from Stanton Senior High School in 1962 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17. After completing his service, Richard continued his education in Washington, D.C., earning an associate’s degree in data Processing and building a long career in Information Technology, retiring from Macy’s Systems Technologies.

Richard had a passion for photography and received national recognition through Parade Magazine, with his work also featured in The Big Click: Photographing Georgia. At age 32, he committed his life to Christ and spent many years serving as a volunteer chaplain and mentor, as well as participating in mission work abroad.

After many years in Atlanta, Richard relocated to Savannah, Georgia, where he continued to serve his community. He believed in making a positive difference through his life and family.

Richard passed away on January 23, 2026. He is survived by his three loving daughters, five grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held on February 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Services in Savannah, Georgia, followed by a repast. He will be laid to rest with full military honors on February 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Richard was an avid swimmer throughout his life and strongly believed in the lifelong benefits of swimming and water safety. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a small donation in his memory to one of the following organizations:
