Richard E. Zielinski Sr., born in Germany on July 8, 1948 to John and Tamara Zielinski, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 at the age of 77. Known for his unwavering determination, sharp business sense, and larger-than-life personality, Richard left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and the community he served.
In 1974, alongside Theresa, Richard founded Dependable Fire Equipment, Inc. With grit, perseverance, and an unshakable work ethic, he built the company from the ground up, ensuring its success and longevity. What began as a dream flourished into a thriving business that has safeguarded countless lives and properties over the decades-a testament to Richard's relentless drive and commitment to excellence.
Tough as nails and never one to back down from a challenge, Richard earned the nickname "Bulldog." His tenacity was matched only by his charisma-he could sell a pen to a pen salesman and never missed an opportunity to make a deal. A true hustler in every sense, he had an eye for value and a knack for turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Outside of work, Richard found joy in fishing and collecting antiques and hidden treasures. He had an innate ability to recognize worth where others saw none, always searching for the next great find. These passions reflected his love for the hunt-whether in business or in life, he was always chasing something greater.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his children, Richard Jr. (Belinda), Diane (Al), Paul (Shawdy), and Jennifer (Robb); his grandchildren, Nicole, Angel, Logan, and Cole; his sister, Harriet; numerous nieces and nephews and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his brother, Victor, and his parents. His memory will live on in the family he cherished and the business he built with his own two hands.
Rest easy, Bulldog. Your hustle lives on.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to Fat Cat Rescue Inc. (https://www.fatcatrescueinc.org).
