Richardson Fowle Obituary
West Lebanon, NH — Richardson (Rik) Fowle, 93, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at his home in West Lebanon, NH. Rik was born in Istanbul Turkey on June 9, 1929 to Luther and Helen Fowle, the youngest of five children. Curtis, Farnsworth, James, Helen (Joy Smith). He graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1946 and went on to graduate Cum Laude from Williams College in 1950 with a B.A in History.
Rik served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1952 and worked in the Central Intelligence Agency for the Department of the Army from 1953-1960. He married Irmalyn Fowle (Nunn) on June 1, 1964. Rik and his wife served with the United Church Board of World Ministries from 1962-1974. In 1975 the family moved to Thetford Hill, VT where they lived for over 30 years. Rik spent most of his time working at Dartmouth College in the Biochemistry department until retirement. Rik and Irmalyn have lived at Quail Hallow retirement community in West Lebanon, NH since 2004.
Rik was fluent in numerous languages and was an enthusiastic traveler with his family extensively throughout Europe and USA in their VW bus. Rik was an active member of the First Congressional Church on Thetford Hill, VT for many years before moving to West Lebanon, NH.
Rik is survived by his wife, of 58 years Irmalyn (Nunn); son Timothy and his wife Christine Fowle (Murray); grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Fowle; son Thomas Fowle: grandson Cole and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Rik has been planned for Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 2-4pm at The First Congregational Church located at 2596 VT-113 Thetford Hill, VT 05074. A private burial is set for family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
