Richard Wayne “Rick” Bowman, age 63, of Cherryville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born November 22, 1961 in Charleston County, South Carolina to Richard Alton Bowman and Dorothy Ann Carey. Rick was employed in maintenance and served as a mechanic for nearly 48 years, with over 30 years being at Keystone. His knowledge and experience in the Mechanic Trade aided him in his love of cars. He was passionate about all cars, RC and full size alike. He also had a love for dirtbikes and hunting. Rick enjoyed golf and softball in his younger days.
Rick is survived by his wife and love of 29 years, Melany Engle Bowman; his mother, Dot McSwain; father, Richard Bowman (Shirley Blankenship); siblings, Ed Bowman (Felicia), Michael Bowman (Lori), Charles Webb (Cindy), and Sandy Dillingham (Larry); mother-in-law, Nancy Engle; sister-in-law, Jennifer Engle; nieces and nephews, Brittany Bingham (Zach), Lauren Henderson (Mike), Mark Bowman, Jonathan Bowman, Natalie Ramsey (Josh), Chase Webb, Melissa Church, Megan Benfield, and Mariah Smith; pets, Bob and Dixie; and numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mike McSwain; stepmother, Pat Bowman; father-in-law, Jake Engle; and pets, Zack and Tar Baby.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter with Rev. Randy Heffner officiating. Burial will be private.
