Rick H. Fullmer, 73, of Westfield, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home on Wednesday August 14, 2024. Rick was born in Portage, WI on March 19, 1951. At age 19, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After the Air Force he moved to Westfield and went on to become a Deputy Sheriff for Marquette County where he served the community from 1973-2007. Rick spent his last 10 years on the force as Marquette County Sheriff.
In Rick’s retirement years, you could find him patrolling the county roads around his home.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting big bucks and catching salmon and walleye. He loved spending time in his apple orchard and mowing his precious grass. He was active in the Leaky Boot Pheasant Club which he helped start over 40 years ago. Rick loved visiting and hunting with his best friend Bill Laughlin. He loved feeding his birds and squirrels. Rick loved watching NASCAR, football, and old western tv shows. Rick and his love Jane, spent many years in Sheboygan on Lake Michigan fishing salmon with many good friends and family.
Rick leaves behind his beloved wife, Jane of 40 years; a mother, Francis Zimbric; a sister, Vicki Zimbric; six children, RaeAnn (John) Dobyns, Meghann (Tim) Krueger, Joli (Josh) Grenier, Luke Fullmer, Jessica Lopez, Justin (Amanda) Fetzer; 13 grandchildren, Maggie Dobyns, Hollie Dobyns, Kyle Krueger, Claudia Krueger, Trevor Grenier, Lacy Grenier, Connor Fullmer, Lydia Fullmer, Brent Fullmer, Dregos Lopez, Emilio Lopez, Archer Fetzer, and Gunner Fetzer. He also leaves behind his best friend Bill Laughlin, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service for Rick will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 12:00 noon at New Beginnings Christian Community Church in Westfield with Pastor Terry Temanson officiating. A sheriff’s department final call and full military honors will be held at the church following the service. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
