Rick Stewart Lane lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on September 17th 2023. He passed peacefully at home in Spanaway, WA with his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his father Roy, mother Alta, sister Karen, 2 brothers Brad and Russ, and a nephew Brian.
Rick was born in Spokane, WA, on August 19th 1949, the second of 8 children, to Roy and Alta Lane. in 1962 the family moved to the Kent area. Rick worked throughout high school with his dad in the drywall trade. He graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1967, married, started a family and had 3 children. Rick followed in his father's footsteps and chose the drywall trade to earn a living. In 1977 he formed his own drywall company, "Rick's Drywall", and spent the next 40 plus years nailing sheetrock. He was a great provider for his family and spent his life working hard and playing hard. owning many toys to provide fun for his family on their adventures (boats, skis, jet skis, snowmobiles, dirt bikes & quads). Rick loved his work and would have been "nailing board" till the day he died if he had had his way.
Rick loved boats jet boats, drag boats & hydroplanes. He even raced hydros starting out in 145 series in 1965, then moved up to a 2.5 liter hydro and raced the N-70 "Aquanut" from 1968-1972. Rick loved his family, horsepower, speed, loud motors and the smell of nitromethane!!! He also loved muscle cars and hot rods and always took pride in keeping his toys clean and shiny. Rick was known never to be lacking in his supply of polishing rags & chemicals. "Ya ain't cool if your chrome don't shine!!!" was his motto. Nor was he lacking a beer or pop to offer his friends and neighbors that stopped by on occasion to hang out and chat in "the man cave".
Rick Lane was easy to like and easy to love. People didn't forget "the Rickster". He was one-of-a-kind. He will be very deeply missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN.
Rick is survived by his wife Debbie, 3 children; Erin (Tony), Teresa (Kurt), Mark, a stepdaughter Amber (Steve), 3 grandchildren; Layne, Kohl, Kayla, 4 siblings; Kay (Darren), Tami (Jim), Tim, Jeff, many nieces, nephews & cousins, and an aunt Arlyn in North Dakota.

Dear Debbie and family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Although I did not know Rick, I knew his wife Debbie and stepdaughter Amber. I remember being at their home and how beautifully well kept he and Debbie maintained. He was meticulous in his work! My condolences are sent to you at this sorrowful time. May Rick Rest In Peace.
